EVENTS
Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day Flower Sales: Students design Thanksgiving centerpiece prototypes and market them to the campus community. Members hold a fun group design session to fill all the orders using an assembly line method. For Valentine’s Day, members select rose varieties, carnation colors and other supplemental flower choices and develop a marketing campaign directed to the campus community. Proceeds from these sales support student travel to national competition.
SAIFD National Competition:
The AIFD National Symposium takes place during the month of July in selected cities throughout the US. Typically occurring over the Fourth of July holiday, students enjoy travelling to places like Chicago, Las Vegas and Washington DC for a weeklong floral design conference where they rub elbows with floral industry elite. Highlights include participation in the national floral design competition and the formal black tie and ballgown gala.
