Copyright is a very important issue while teaching. When using the following items for class, be sure to adhere to the following guidelines:
- class videos: copyright law allows instructors to show movies/videos in a face-to-face class, but it does not apply to other venues including Carmen, online classes, distance learning (those venues require the use of eReserves)
- Carmen materials: do not upload copyrighted items into Carmen without getting permission from the author; it is illegal
- reserve items: photocopied textbooks cannot go on reserve
- class handouts: apply the principles of fair use to determine if the handouts adhere to copyright laws
Copyright laws should be followed and upheld by all faculty and staff members. If you have any questions about copyright, plagiarism, or how to apply fair use in the classroom, please contact OSU Libraries' Copyright Resources Center as needed.
If you missed the library's presentation on Copyright for ATI faculty and staff, you can still watch the online video/presentation!
