A record 51 employers attended the 4th annual Career Expo at Ohio State ATI on Sept. 28, providing students with the opportunity to explore options for employment and internships. And nearly a third of the company representatives present were OSU grads.
The event has grown dramatically from its first year, when 14 companies attended and the event was held in Skou Lounge.
According to Adam Cahill, career development manager for the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, one factor contributing to the growth of the event is the decision to hold Ohio State ATI's career expo back-to-back with the CFAES event in Columbus. "It allows companies to maximize their travel budgets," Cahill said, "so we can attract companies from farther afield."
Randy Collins, an Ohio State ATI 2009 landscape graduate, was one of the alumni recruiting at the event. Collins is a project manager at the Pattie Group, a full-service landscape development firm serving Northeast Ohio. "We can provide a great experience for interns and graduates, because we can get them involved in every aspect of outdoor spaces," said Collins. "I'm a little bit biased, of course, but there is talent here and we want to get a hold of it."
CFAES graduate Julie Ziegler of COBA Select Sires said, "We've had phenomenal success with Ohio State ATI students. About 45 of our 100 employees are OSU graduates."
