News: Garcia earns Registered Corporate Coach certification

Jan. 22, 2016

The Worldwide Association of Business Coaches (WABC) has awarded Melanie Reusser Garcia of Wooster, Ohio, the Registered Corporate Coach (RCC) designation. This global credential is awarded to business coaches who have learned key principles, skills and techniques for coaching effectively in businesses and organizations.

According to Wendy Johnson, WABC president and chief executive officer, “The Registered Corporate Coach designation has been obtained by nearly 2,000 practitioners worldwide. Coaches who have earned this designation are committed to our emerging profession. They’ve invested serious time and effort in developing specialized skills to bring out the best in others.”

Garcia is corporate training account executive and corporate coach at Ohio State ATI’s Business Training & Educational Services (BTES). She works with organizations to assess workforce development needs, identify workplace challenges, develop flexible solutions to foster success, and coach individuals and organizations to achieve goals.

Her corporate career began at Chicago-based Successories, Inc. in the international and new business development departments. There she focused on establishing distributors around the world, as well as mergers, acquisitions and strategic alliances with companies like Franklin Covey and McDonald’s. Returning to her native Wayne County, she joined a family-owned manufacturing company.  When the company was sold to a venture capital firm, she was promoted to general manager, overseeing the transition from a privately-held company to a division of an international manufacturing company.  Under her tenure, the plant increased production by 400%, while maintaining the highest efficiency and lowest production costs of the company’s 11 U.S. plants.

“I first became aware of BTES when I hired them to provide training for my supervisors.  I was so energized and impressed by their work, I joined the BTES team a few years later,” says Garcia.

Garcia holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Miami University in Ohio  and an MBA from Ashland University.
