Beef Trip 2023
This year our group was able to visit the following:
- Shorty’s Caboy Hattery, a custom cowboy hat maker in Oklahoma City, OK.
- Express Ranches, one of the premier Angus seedstock suppliers in the nation, Yukon, OK.
- Quality Beef Feedyard, ~ 42,000 head of grain-fed beef, Wilderado, TX
- Palo Duro Canyon park
- The Big Texan Restaurant, home of the 72 oz. steak challenge, which they were all too chicken to attempt, Amarillo, TX
- Cargill Meat Solutions – modern beef packing plant in Friona, TX that processes ~ 4,500 head per day resulting in the production of ~ 3 millions lbs of beef daily.
- National Ranch Heritage Center, a museum of ranching history on the campus of Texas Tech. University. Lubbock, TX
- Jake Cowen Ranch, Benjamin, TX, a commercial stocker-backgrounder and cow-calf operation
- National Roper Supply, Decatur, TX a large western apparel, ranch wear and ranch equipment supplier
- 44 Farms, Cameron, TX. Another premier Angus seedstock supplier
- Historic Ft. Worth Stockyards, Ft. Worth, TX.
- National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, Oklahoma City, OK. A comprehensive collection of western paintings and related artwork
- Cattleman’s Steakhouse, Oklahoma City, OK. A premier steakhouse
- Oklahoma National Stockyards, OKC. The world’s largest stocker and feeder cattle market, ~ 7000 hd weekly.
- Stillwater Milling Co. Stillwater, OK. Producer of various types of cattle feed.
- Oklahoma State University Beef Center, Stillwater, OK.
