Resident Advisor Application Process


RA Recruitment 2019-20

The Resident Advisor (RA) position is one of the most challenging and fulfilling commitments you can assume as a college student. You will have the opportunity to interact with others and change lives, learn time management skills, expand your awareness of our on-campus community, and enrich your experience here at Ohio State ATI. Through these opportunities, you will receive a broad-based, skill-building experience. Resident Advisors need to possess maturity, responsibility, strong communication skills, leadership, and sensitivity to a diverse and inclusive population.

Informational packets will be available at the upcoming information sessions, including: 

  • Academic standards and minimum qualifications guide
  • Roles and responsibilities of the RA
  • Terms of employment  
  • Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
  • Application for employment
  • 3 reference form (1 reference must be a current Residence Life staff member)

You may check with our office at any time to see if you are missing any of the required materials. References will be accepted through January 15, 2020.

There will be an opportunity to meet members of the current village staff and have your questions answered.                                                

SPRING 2020 - RA HIRING TIMELINE (1 position currently available on Apple Orchard Dr., primarily an upperclassmen community. You must be at least a second year student (based on your high school graduation date) having earned 24 or more credit hours in order to be eligible to apply for this mid-year position).

December 2 Applications become available for SP20. (Should you apply and not be hired, your application will be on file for the 2020 - 2021 RA selection process).
December 5 RA Information Session #1 at 7:00 PM
December 7 Applications are due by 11:59 PM for the SP20 position. You must email to indicate your desire to apply for this opening.
December 8 - 9 Applications are scored
December 10 - 13 Interviews offered and held
December 11 References due
December 18 Position offer extended


December 2 Applications become available for the 2020 - 2021
December 5 RA Information Session #1 at 7:00 PM
December 11 RA Information Session #2 at 12:30 PM
January 12 Applications are due by 11:59 PM
January 13 - 19 Applications are scored
January 15 References due
January 20 Interviews are offered
January 21 - 22 Interview sign-ups

February 4 Invitations to participate in RA Seminar 
February 6 RA Seminar begins
March 9 - 13 Spring Break (No RA seminar this week)
March 26 RA Seminar ends
March 27 Position offers are extended
April 2 Offer acceptance deadline
April 3 Hiring decisions sent to Columbus
