Finishing barn

The Ohio State ATI swine program includes a 24-sow farrow-to-finish operation that produces 500 market hogs and feeder pigs annually. The farm produces over 1500 pigs each year with approximately one-half of those being finished on the farm. 

Pigs are weaned at 18 days of age then go through our 300 pig two-staged, environmentally controlled, raised deck nursery and a grower-finisher barn.

Students assist in the daily operation of the herd and facilities, including baby pig management, reproductive management, live animal evaluation, ultrasonics, and computerized record-keeping.
