What Happens When I Make a Report?

The Care Team will review the information and assess appropriate actions to assist the student of concern. Your referral is confidential; however, we will let the student know that we have been notified of a concern.

Any member of the campus community (faculty, staff and students) who know of a student who may need help can use our online referral form to request assistance. A representative from the office of Academic and Student Affairs or a designee will follow-up with the student to determine how we can best help.

You will receive confirmation that we have received your report. You will not receive additional information unless there is a FERPA need to know per educational guidelines. For example, we may contact you to verify information or ask necessary follow-up questions.

The Care Team is limited in scope. The Team promotes but cannot ensure that students use the resources or seek help when it is offered. The Care Team provides a system for coordination and communication across campus and university units. The Team’s coordinated care approach ensures that students experiencing personal challenges are offered resources to assist them to remain on their academic path. The Care Team manages the situation by collaborating with academic departments, Student Life units, and other university units while maintaining individual student rights and preserving the campus learning, living, and working environment.

The Care Team reviews reports from a safety lens. When the information received points toward a threat to an individual or the safety of our community, collaborate with the OSU Consultation and Assessment Team (CAT) group in order to implement recommended actions in order to safeguard individual students' rights and the campus learning, living, and working environment.

All reports of student concern that include complaints of harassment, discrimination, and sexual misconduct, accessibility, and protection of minors will be forwarded to the Office for Institutional Equity (OIE). You may file a report directly with OIE by using this online form.

We have a high level of trust in the security measures of our reporting system. We believe the reporting system to be more secure than email. The Care Team meets regularly to ensure our responses are coordinated. The Care Team manages the situation by collaborating with academic departments, Student Life units, and other university units while maintaining individual student rights and preserving the campus learning, living, and working environment.
