What Happens When I Make a Report?

The CARE Team will review the information and assess appropriate actions to assist the student of concern. Your referral is confidential; however, we will let the student know that we have been notified of a concern.

Any member of the campus community (faculty, staff and students) who know of a student who may need help can use our online referral form to request assistance. A representative from the office of Student Success Services or a designee will follow-up with the student to determine how we can best help.

You will receive confirmation that we have received your report. You will not receive additional information unless there is a FERPA need to know per educational guidelines. For example, we may contact you to verify information or ask necessary follow-up questions.

The CARE Team is limited in scope. We promote but cannot ensure that students use the resources or seek help when it is offered. We will make referrals and encourage students to act upon our referrals.

The CARE TEAM reviews reports from a safety lens. When the information received points toward a threat to an individual or the safety of our community, we will collaborate with the OSU Consultation and Assessment Team (CAT) group in order to implement recommended actions in order to safeguard individual students' rights and the campus community.

All reports of student concern that include complaints of harassment, discrimination, and sexual misconduct, accessibility, and protection of minors will be forwarded to the Office for Institutional Equity (OIE). You may file a report directly with OIE by using this online form.

We have a high level of trust in the security measures of our reporting system. We believe the reporting system to be more secure than email.

The CARE Team meets regularly to ensure our responses are coordinated. We also collaborate with colleagues to support student persistence and success in academic and career endeavors. Our goals are to attend to individual student wellbeing and to support the overall wellbeing of our campus community.
