Flexible options for adult learners
Continuing Education at Ohio State ATI provides flexible learning opportunities for adult learners, working professionals and community members who want to take university courses without pursuing a full degree. Whether you are developing career skills, exploring a new subject or returning to the classroom after time away, ATI offers accessible options designed to meet a wide range of learning goals.
Learners may enroll part-time or full-time, complete courses for a grade or audit, or build a customized learning pathway based on personal or professional interests.
Ohio residents may enroll in Ohio State ATI credit courses as continuing education students. Tuition is based on the number of credit hours taken, and students may complete coursework for a grade or audit a class depending on their learning goals.
Participation in lab components is permitted when the course includes a lab. Prerequisites may be waived depending on the course and instructor approval. Students must apply as continuing education students and pay a one-time application fee. Additional university fees may apply depending on the course.
An additional option, Individual Studies, allows participation in lecture content from select courses without enrolling in the full course experience. This option typically includes one credit hour enrollment, excludes lab participation, and uses a Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grading format.
Non-Ohio residents may also enroll in Ohio State ATI courses through the continuing education pathway. Tuition is charged at the non-resident rate and is based on the number of credit hours enrolled.
Students may complete courses for a grade or audit coursework depending on their learning goals. Participation in lab components is allowed when available, and prerequisites may be waived depending on course requirements and instructor approval.
Applicants must complete continuing education admission and pay a one-time application fee. Additional university fees may apply.
Some courses allow learners to participate in lecture content without earning academic credit. This option is intended for individuals who want to engage with course material for professional development or personal enrichment.
Non-credit participation allows attendance in lecture portions of select courses but does not include laboratory participation. Students do not receive grades and the course will not appear on an Ohio State transcript. These enrollments do not apply toward degree requirements.
