OTDI Updates

Since there are many technology changes this fall, here's a quick overview.

·New ways to access Adobe products

Faculty and staff get free Adobe Acrobat Pro, and everyone can access Adobe Express for free. Need Creative Cloud? It's $35/year (July-June). Log on to the ARC for details about how departments and individuals can purchase licenses.

·Ohio State Wi-Fi Reminder: Connect to eduroam

Over the summer, osuwireless officially retired and eduroam is now the primary secure Wi-Fi network for Ohio State students, faculty, and staff. Those who haven’t switched already can connect their devices to eduroam today by visiting wireless.osu.edu.

·Student Device Loan Program now focuses on financial need.

The Student Technology Loan Program now offers iPads and Microsoft Surfaces only to students with limited tech access and identified financial need. Find all the info here.

·Visit our new Generative Artificial Intelligence site.

Ohio State now has a dedicated AI site! Visit AI.osu.edu for university AI resources. To add your department's AI projects or events, email ai@osu.edu.

·Microsoft Changes: Many of you asked for a toolkit – here it is! There are a couple images, newsletter blurbs and a 30-day storage reduction calendar activity you can use within your department. This page has ALL of the project info.

·Email account forwarding ends on Dec. 31.

Forwarding from Ohio State to outside email services ends this year, mainly affecting students and some alumni. We paused the elimination of student lastname.#@osu.edu addresses to give everyone more time to prepare. If you're updating systems to use lastname.#@buckeyemail.osu.edu, please continue—it's still planned, just on a longer timeline/TBD.

·Storage Limits Change in June 2025
Yes, it seems far off, but those with lots of data will need the time to move or delete it. Most faculty and staff will have storage limits of 100GB for Outlook, 100GB for email archives, and 500GB for OneDrive. This fall we will begin emailing people who are near those limits.
