Interested in taking college classes while you’re still in high school? The Ohio State Academy Program at Ohio State ATI lets eligible students earn college credit through College Credit Plus (CCP).
Before you begin, talk with your high school counselor or principal about whether CCP is the right fit for you. They can help you understand eligibility, deadlines and how college coursework may fit into your high school schedule and graduation plan.
You must also submit the CCP Intent to Participate Form to your high school or school district by the state deadline. This form is required by the State of Ohio and is not submitted to Ohio State ATI.
To be considered for admission, all required materials must be submitted by the posted deadlines.
How to apply
Start by submitting the Ohio State Academy application.
After you apply, you’ll receive a confirmation email with instructions to activate your Ohio State username. You’ll use that account to complete the rest of the process.
Ohio residency is required for College Credit Plus. Residency is reviewed as part of your application.
Your high school counselor or principal must send the required School Information Form directly to ccpdocs@osu.edu.
Forms submitted by students or families cannot be accepted.
Your school must send your official transcript directly to ccpdocs@osu.edu so Ohio State ATI can review your academic record.
Transcripts sent by students or families cannot be accepted.
College Credit Plus is test optional through the 2026–2027 academic year. Some students may still be asked to submit ACT, SAT or ACCUPLACER scores.
If additional information or testing is needed, you’ll receive instructions by email after your materials are reviewed
After activating your Ohio State username, complete the required Mature Content Permission Slip to finalize your application. Both the student and a parent or guardian must complete and sign this form. If you choose to use the downloadable version, submit the completed form to ccpdocs@osu.edu.
After you apply
Once your materials are reviewed, you’ll be notified if anything else is needed.
If you attend a nonpublic school or are homeschooled, make sure to follow the funding deadlines and instructions from the Ohio Department of Education College Credit Plus program.
ACCUPLACER, if required, is used only to help determine CCP eligibility. It is not used for course placement.
After admission
All admitted students must attend a required orientation before registering for classes.
At orientation, you will:
- meet with an advisor
- learn how to register for classes
- complete placement testing if needed
- learn how to use Ohio State systems and student tools
A parent or guardian must attend orientation with the student.
Your advisor will help determine the number and type of courses you may take each semester.
Important to know
Taking classes through the Ohio State Academy Program does not guarantee admission later as a degree-seeking student on the Columbus campus.
If you decide to apply to Columbus in the future, you must complete a separate freshman application and go through the regular admissions process.
If you later enroll at Ohio State as a degree-seeking student, your CCP grades will become part of your official Ohio State academic record.
