The Arden Shisler Center for Education and Economic Development opened in August 2001 to support learning, collaboration, and innovation on the CFAES Wooster campus. It is named for Arden Shisler, former head of the Ohio Agriculture Commission and former chair of Nationwide Insurance, in recognition of his support for economic growth through communication, training and education.
Today, the Shisler Center is a full-service meeting and conference facility that hosts events, trainings and educational programs for campus and community audiences.

Barnhart Rice Homestead

The Barnhart Rice Homestead, also known as the Stone House, was built in the 1820s from hand-hewn sandstone quarried near the site. It is one of the strongest remaining examples of German vernacular architecture in Wayne County.
Restored to reflect its early history, the homestead now serves as a small gathering space for campus and community use. The venue includes dining space for 12, a breakfast room for 6, a living room with seating for up to 20, and a working kitchen for catering needs.

Center for Food Animal Health

Research in the Center for Food Animal Health (CFAH) focuses on enhancing food safety, protecting the environment, and making animals and people healthier. CFAH researchers are using multidisciplinary and One Health approaches to make significant advances in food-animal production and animal and human health, with interrelated contributions to ecosystem sustainability. These scientific contributions will positively impact the lives of people of Ohio, the nation and the global community.
Fisher Auditorium

Fisher Auditorium was built in 1968 and renovated in 2000. Named for Ralph Fisher, the Fisher complex includes a 10,000-square-foot auditorium, more than 8,000 square feet of exhibit space, a video classroom, the Communications and Technology production unit and the OARDC research library.
The auditorium seats 976, with 12 wheelchair-accessible spaces, and supports events such as workshops, ceremonies and concerts. Two adjoining exhibit areas offer flexible space with screens, dimmable lighting and technology connections.

Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) Building

In 2010, a tornado laid waste to the Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) research building and greenhouses on the CFAES Wooster Campus. On May 10, 2012, a groundbreaking ceremony took place for the new FABE building. Two years later our FABE employees had a new place to call home. Plant and Animal Agrosecurity Research Facility

The Plant and Animal Agrosecurity Research facility supports critical research on infectious diseases that impact both plants and animals. A Biosecurity Level 3 facility, PAAR is the only facility in Ohio using an integrated approach to animal and plant research.

Secrest Arboretum

Secrest Arboretum has been part of the CFAES Wooster campus since 1909. Founded by Edmund Secrest, Ohio’s first state forester, it remains an important space for plant evaluation, education, and public enjoyment.
The arboretum welcomes both professional and public audiences and offers a place to explore, learn and enjoy the landscape.

Selby Hall was named for Augustine Selby, head of the Botany Department from 1906-1923. The building was built in 1972. Selby Hall houses the Department of Plant Pathology and the Molecular and Cellular Imaging Center (MCIC).
Simon Rice House

This white brick house was built by Simon Rice around 1822 and is the second house to be built on lands that would later belong to the OARDC. The house is now home to the CFAES Wooster Campus Public Safety.
Thorne House

Thorne House is a historic campus home that serves as a meeting and event space on the CFAES Wooster campus. Formerly the residence of the Wooster campus director, the house includes a dining room, kitchen, breakfast bar, three bedrooms with queen beds and an additional room with a queen pull-out bed.
Renovated to reflect its original Victorian character, Thorne House provides a comfortable setting for meetings, gatherings and small events.

Williams Hall

Williams Hall was built in 1957 and named for Carlos G. Williams, the second director of the Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station, 1921-1937. An addition was completed in 1967. Williams Hall houses the Department of Horticulture and Crop Sciences, the School of Environment and Natural Resources and the USDA Soft Wheat Quality Laboratory.

This facility supports research, teaching and outreach on the CFAES Wooster campus. It houses research functions for the Department of Entomology, along with chemistry teaching labs and support space for undergraduate instruction.
Designed for flexible use, the building serves multiple departments and includes the United Titanium Bug Zoo, a 100-seat multipurpose classroom, and the CFAES Cafe, which creates a shared gathering space for students, faculty, staff and visitors.
