About us

The Ohio State ATI Equine Center was opened in the fall of 2000, and is  part of  ATI's 1,725 acre working farm located in Apple Creek, OH. The center encompasses  approximately 100 acres and maintains a group of 65 - 100 horses.

About the Facility

The Equine Center consists of a 46-stall barn which includes foaling stalls, tack room and  two wash racks. The barn contains a fully equipped breeding laboratory with modern equipment for conducting a variety of procedures including: semen concentration and motility evaluation, centrifugation, packaging of cooled semen, and ultrasound  evaluation. The breeding shed is located within the north wing  of the barn and includes stocks, teasing area and breeding phantom.

The Equine Center has two riding arenas  available. Our outdoor arena is 120' x240' and is used in the fall and spring riding classes. The lighted indoor arena is 85' x 185' and is used for  inclement weather riding. The arenas are available for rent.  Contact us for more information.

Our Horses

Currently included within the breeding herd are Quarter Horse and Standardbred broodmares and foals. ATI - owned and client mares are foaled each year at the center, providing an opportunity to the students for hands-on instruction in foaling, breeding and subsequent mare and foal care.

Selected foals are sold as weanlings and yearlings through private sale or public auction and are an important source of income for  the center. Other selected foals are retained and used as part of the saddle horse training course. The center is home to three stallions:

Shiners Lena Saki, AQHA

Hoosierpersonality, APHA

Fly Fly Buckeye, USTA

In addition to our breeding herd, the Equine Center also maintains approximately 25 lesson horses. The horses used in the equitation courses represent a variety of breeds including Quarter Horses, Paints, Thoroughbreds, and one Mule. We have horses to suit every skill level, from beginner riders to advanced jumpers. The majority of the lesson horses have been generously donated by their previous owners.
